Courtney Thompson is a Seattle kid. Undersized. Overachieving. Dreams large. Outworks everyone. Takes risks. Unafraid to fail. Learns from losses. Refuses to quit. State champ. National Champ. All-American. Player of the Year. And—against staggering odds—Olympic medalist. A rare character who seems too good to be true, too interesting to ignore. Wise beyond her years. Passionate. Honest. Smart. Funny. Hugely entertaining.
The NCAA Women's Volleyball Final Four will be hosted by Seattle December 20-22, 2013, when Court & Spark will premiere. This one-hour broadcast documentary, with Courtney as our guide, will explore how and why volleyball is the world's second most popular sport, and why it is finally making a huge comeback in the USA, where the sport was born.

Senior Judge Portraits
2013 | US District Court | USA
Now in production. Parts 1 & 2 of a series.
As a kid growing up in a large Irish-Catholic family, Wally McGovern loved playing sports. In time, he became a scrappy, successful basketball guard, starring first in high school, and then in college. He turned down a basketball career to study law, a path that took him onto the bench of nearly every type of court in Washington State, including the State Supreme Court, and--for more than four decades--on the federal court in Western Washington. Hon. Walter T. McGovern shares memories and lessons from his storied career, including presiding over the infamous federal criminal trial of a domestic terror group called The Order. Judge McGovern's video portrait is alive with his famous wit, charm and confidence.
When Carolyn Dimmick graduated from the University of Washington School of Law, she was one of just three women in her class. Her longtime after-school employer, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper, called her a pretty blonde barrister, and made a fuss about her skill as a professional water skiier. But Hon. Carolyn Dimmick never let her gender become an issue, even as she rose to become the first woman member of the Washington State Supreme Court, and only the second woman to serve as a federal judge in Western Washington. She presided over several highly-publicized cases, and capped her career by overseeing the construction of Seattle's soaring and award-winning federal courthouse. Judge Dimmick's video portrait displays her modesty, humor and determination.

A More Perfect Union: The Tacoma Union Station Federal Courthouse Centennial
2011 | US District Court | USA

A More Perfect Union is the story of the folks who transformed a dying Tacoma landmark into a glittering temple of justice.
The 30-minute documentary features, among others, the schoolboy train photographer who became a renowned historian; the architects who breathed new life into a building destined for a bulldozer; the gutsy citizens who prodded politicians to pay for a remarkable renovation; and the outspoken jurist who refused to compromise on either the new courtroom's solemnity or its sassiness.
In the end, a forgotten treasure from the past literally transforms the forgotten core of a city determined to secure a vibrant future.
